Very. Even Anchorage is one big small town – you'll bump into people at the grocery store. Keep a poker face and respect privacy in public.

Many in the community are military, often with strict discretion needs for their careers. Respecting their anonymity is non-negotiable.
Does the scene change with the seasons?
Yes. Winter is for house parties and indoor socialising; summer is quieter while everyone's out fishing, camping or hiking – though camping swings are definitely a thing.
